53-62 CORVETTE CROSSMEMBER
Our custom installation kit for the 1953 thru 1962 Corvettes is designed to allow installation of a 700R4 Overdrive Transmission without altering the stock frame. This kit has a special transmission mount that bolts into stock holes in the X-part of the frame. This kit includes an insulated rubber mount plus grade-8 bolts to attach it to the transmission and mount. This kit also has a custom modified tail housing, stock PowerGlide shifter mounting bracket, shift linkage, a park neutral safety switch and activator. The stock PowerGlide shifter will require a new tailhousing with our custom bracket allow all seven shifter positions to be accessed. Once modified, it will bolt directly onto our custom mount and position into the stock hole in the transmission tunnel. The stock rubber boot can be retained.
If your Corvette originally had a manual transmission, you can easily convert to the Th-700R4 using an original factory PowerGlide shifter or a new after market reproduction PowerGlide shifter. These new after market shifters are available for $399.00 with shifter ball, white ball. The shifter (whether used original or new reproduction) will need to be modified by us to allow access to all the needed seven shift positions. UPS the shifter to us and we will modify it and quickly get it returned.
Transmission mount and shifter mount/linkage conversion kit is $99.00. This price does NOT include the shifter.
